Please help my friend on how & what she can do to get her kid back?

Here is a true story. I have a asian friend who do not speak english well. she met a man from USA and they fall in love and have a baby in Canada but he said come to usa after have a baby in canada. She raise her kid until 5 year old in Canada and suddently he come to her and borrow her money and tell her to come and live with him in USA and they will get married and he will do all the paper work but When she got there and stay with him for about 1 year and they have a fight and he call the police and said she hit him. At time she was scare and did not speak english. USA POLICE did not have a translator and put her in jail for 3 month and she was so scare that she did not remeber her brother or sister phone number to call for help. At the same time becuase of culture shame. Any way make the long story short after she was release from jail she fly back to Canada with out her kid because he did not let her take the kid and at the same time he keep all her kid port. PLEASE TELL ME HOW SHE CAN GET HER KID BACK from USA? No lawyer here in Canada want to help or get involved. They said you have to go to usa and see lawyer but she do not have money to stay and not working and pay lawyer fee. Does any body know any Houston legal aid that will be willing to help her case? SHE IS A GOOD MOTHER JUST CAN NOT SPEAK ENGLISH, SHE SPEAK VIETNAMESE also THIS MAN have no married paper so did the usa police let him keep the kid usa? please email me at Andydang@shaw.ca for advise and any recommendation.
