What happens when you Wire your + & - on your sub wrong?

i have two 10" subs and i wanted to set up the LED light ring the subs offer. i started with 1 sub but it didnt work so i put the wires connecting the sub to the box terminal back to normal. but when i tested the the subs i can barely feel any b anymore. i only touched 1 sub not both. now i think it may be that i put the + and - in the wrong way. is this what happens when that is done wrong??...it get all the excursion i would normally get but i don't feel the b. its very low. also what happens when u put the + and - wrong? thanks
