Free will vs. Determinism, which is it?

If we had nothing but good choices available, it wouldn't really be free will. That would just be another version of determinism. Personally I've never believed in determinism. What would be the point of living if we were nothing more than pawns in some sort of cosmic chess game where the final outcome has already been decided? In my opinion, the game wouldn't even be worth playing then.
